GET INVOLVED
To complement and refine our day-to-day work toward Romani integration, we wish to exchange experience and know-how with like-minded organizations and individuals. If you fit this description, please contact us and consider making a visit to the Centre for Integration.
You can get involved and support AMBRELA’s work toward Romani integration through:
- Formal partnerships
- Research cooperation
- Internships (short- and long-term)
- Working visits
- Financial support
Formal partnerships
We are not only well aware of the value of cooperation with other organizations in Macedonia and beyond, but we also have capacity which can be adapted to the specific needs of our partners, as well as experience in coordinating humanitarian actions to provide Romani children and their families with material assistance to facilitate their full participation in education. With this in mind, we encourage potential partners to approach us with their ideas on how we can join forces.
Research cooperation
With its contacts, experience, and location, AMBRELA is uniquely positioned to support students and academics in gathering data on the situation of Roma in Macedonia in areas including (but not limited to) discrimination, domestic violence, employment, gender issues, human rights, political participation, and social services.
Internships
AMBRELA hosts interns for periods ranging from a month to a year. Volunteers should have completed higher education in a relevant field and should have knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas: fundraising, proposal writing, advocacy and lobbying, web design. Knowledge and experience in community work is also welcome, as are skills in delivering training and creative workshops on interactive learning methods for children, youth, and adults.
To complement formal work experience with exposure to Romani language and culture, AMBRELA can organize accommodation with local Romani families at a level of expense which provides the intern with an inexpensive place to live while contributing to the ability of the host families to finance their children’s full participation in education.
Working visits
AMBRELA is happy to receive visitors from Macedonia and abroad as it has done in the past. Please contact us to discuss your needs and schedule a visit to the Centre for Integration.
Financial support
Since AMBRELA was established, its funding has been entirely project-based. As a result, the continuity of our activities is uncertain beyond the short time horizons of our project funding. Stable financial support would enable us to offer uninterrupted education and assistance.
AMBRELA is also in process of developing its Support A Child project. This initiative would support at least 50 children by matching individual children with mentors who provide financial and / or other support to enable the children to participate in the mainstream education system as a step toward integration. To help us in supporting Romani children in education through this project, please contact us.
