2010 is the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion. It is, among others, in light of this circumstance that the European Union supports the implementation of “A Good Start” programme which targets the development of children between 0 and 6 years of age.
Our goal is to achieve, by the end of the programme, an efficient and successful involvement and support of altogether more than 4,000 small children and their families in the four countries.
In Macedonia, at the start of the school-year, in five localities (three Urban and two Rural) – in Shuto Orizari, Vinica, Delcevo, Trabotivishte and Crnik – individual programme elements have started/are being launched. Support provided to early childhood development and to making children attend kindergartens, building on the community and families, in cooperation with the families, mothers, kindergartens and professional organisations, will be implemented in the interest of the successful elementary school education in the future. Three local NGO will implement the planned activities, these are: National Roma Centrum – Kumanovo, Roma Education Center “Ambrela” - Shuto Orizari (Skopje) and NGO “Kham” – Delcevo. All of them are well experienced, initiative, active NGO’s on the field of education.
The goal of the trainings and preparations elaborated by the International Step by Step Foundation specifically for “A Good Start” programme is the content development of educational institutions which take part in the programme, preparation of the pre-school teachers and Community workers (mediators) who provide support to families, promotion of active cooperation with the families, and realisation of child-centred developments that react to the needs of individual children. The trainings will be provided by Step by Step Foundation in Macedonia.
The goal of the “A Good Start” programme is to support early childhood education and care, by focusing on families and communities while working with institutions.

The FARE Action Week unites supporters, clubs and those targeted by racism across the continent in a concerted effort to make discrimination a thing of the past. The Action Week of the Football Against Racism in Europe network aims to boost public awareness of the problems of racism and exclusion and to create a united front in dealing with this malign influence on Europe‘s number one sport.
The idea behind the FARE Action Week is that a wide range of initiatives and activities address local problems within their club or community, while also joining groups across the continent to present a unified stand against racism in the game.
